Case Study: SpaceRacers.org
Children's Television Responsive Website
We helped Space Racers — an educational children's television show —launch around the world in the spring of 2014 with branding, digital marketing strategy, and a responsive website design with a mobile-first approach.
Design a fully responsive and kid-friendly immersive experience to showcase Space Racers for the current generation of preschool children that uses tablets and smartphones more than PC computers.
We conducted an exhaustive feature and functionality review of 33 leading educational children’s television websites from the US and 16 countries around the world. Among all of those precedents we didn’t find a single website targeted at preschoolers that was truly mobile-first instead of just mobile-friendly, optimized for tablets and smartphones, and didn’t lean upon Flash for a major part of the experience.
We designed SpaceRacers.org using an audience-appropriate mobile-first design approach. Instead of Flash we leaned heavily on HTML 5 animation features to create an immersive and easy-to-use children's television re website that catered to preschool non-readers.
SpaceRacers.org website with its modern HTML5 architecture is the first fully responsive and kid-friendly website for an educational children's television show in the United States. The web experience and the primary gaming experience is HTML5 instead of Flash — that means the web experience and game play works just as well on Apple’s iPhone or iPad as it does on a desktop PC computer.
